Almost Dark is a personal exploration of light as it fades.

I’m an amateur photographer drawn to twilight, shadows, and the moments that feel unfinished — when a place is about to change, or a story hasn’t quite closed.

Kodak Gold, After the Light Drops

I keep coming back to Kodak Gold for its warmth and restraint. It doesn’t chase contrast or drama — it holds onto colour gently, especially as the light starts to fade. In twilight and artificial light it gives me soft highlights, forgiving shadows, and a sense of calm that suits the way I like to work. It’s a film that feels comfortable lingering in imperfect moments, which is often where my photographs begin.

Trying Things Without Needing an Answer

Winter in the Dolomites strips things back. The light is brief, the landscape feels quieter, and everything seems to exist in fewer tones. It felt like the right place to stop being deliberate and just try things. I moved between black and white…

How I Shoot

Almost Dark is photographed on a tight budget, mostly using my Sony A7R II and a Pentax SF7. I tend towards an 85mm lens for its quiet compression, switching to a 40-50mm when the scene asks for less distance and more presence.

Almost Dark Studio is grounded in real photographs, taken by me.

While I do use AI as part of my broader creative workflow, it’s a tool for reflection and support — not image creation.
